Technology
What is FASTEC®?
FASTEC is a dual-entry snowboard binding system allowing you to choose between fast entry and classic entry, while fitting any standard boot. It was patented by SP Bindings in 2007.
How does fast-entry mode work?
01) Open the highback lever; 02) Pull the highback down; 03) The ankle lever pops open; 04) Step in to the binding; 05) Lift highback and close the lever; 06) Close the ankle lever.
How does classic entry work?
Like any traditional binding: leave the highback up and ratchet the ankle and toe straps down, giving you a more fine-tuned performance and a locked-in feeling.
Does fast entry feel different from classic entry when riding?
No, both classic and fast entry feel and perform exactly the same.
Is FASTEC a step-on system?
No. Step-on systems need proprietary boots. FASTEC lets you choose between fast entry and classic entry, compatible with any boot.
Is FASTEC patented?
Yes, since 2007. Patent details and licensing terms aren’t published on this site; OEM partners and journalists can request IP documentation under NDA.
Where can I find FASTEC spare parts?
Please contact your FASTEC dealer for a wide range of available spare parts.
What is FASTEC’s warranty policy?
Each FASTEC brand partner has their own warranty policy — contact them directly for more information.
How much do FASTEC bindings weigh?
Unlike most fast entry bindings, FASTEC is super lightweight and compares to traditional strap bindings — for reference, a FASTEC binding in size M weighs around 890g.
Are FASTEC bindings bulky?
No — contrary to common belief, FASTEC shows that fast entry bindings don’t need to be big and heavy. FASTEC bindings are loved by carving enthusiasts around the world for their low-profile heel cup and sleek overall outline.
Is FASTEC durable?
We’ve ridden, tested and refined FASTEC for more than two decades, making sure it’s as durable as snowboard bindings can get.
Does FASTEC work in steep terrain?
Yes. Pro tip: in very steep or icy terrain, face uphill when entering the binding using fast entry.
Does FASTEC work in deep powder?
Yes. Both classic and fast entry work in powder — just clear the snow from the footbed before strapping in.
Setup & Use
What tools do I need?
A Phillips #3 screwdriver for mounting and highback rotation. Forward lean and strap length and angle adjustments are all tool-free.
Do I re-tighten the straps between runs?
No — set them once using the buckle lock, and the mechanism keeps that tension every time you open and close the binding.
Can I adjust forward lean and highback rotation?
Yes — unlike most fast entry systems, both are adjustable. Forward lean is tool-free; highback rotation takes a Phillips #3 screwdriver.
A lever or ratchet is stuck — what now?
Almost always ice. Clear packed snow from the lever path and the ladder straps, work the mechanism a few times, and never force a frozen ratchet.
Where can I get help if something doesn’t work as expected?
Don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team — they’re always happy to help.
Sizing & Compatibility
Which boots work with FASTEC?
Any standard snowboard boot.
Which boards does it mount to?
4×4 inserts, 4×2 inserts, and the Channel system (ICS, depending on disc type).
Do FASTEC bindings mount on ICS / Channel systems?
Most bindings come with an ICS-compatible disc. If yours doesn’t have the right one, ask your local FASTEC retailer or our support team for a compatible disc.
Does it work on splitboards?
Yes — the FASTEC splitboard binding works with the Voile puck system only.
What sizes do FASTEC bindings come in?
Standard sizes run XS to XL, covering roughly EU 33–49.
Which kind of riders is FASTEC designed for?
The FASTEC range suits every riding style and level, from beginners to pros, park rats to backcountry riders.
Brand & Licensing
Who invented FASTEC?
SP Bindings — the company has been building snowboard bindings since 1987 and developed and patented FASTEC in 2007. SP remains the system’s reference implementation.
Which brands have used the FASTEC system?
47+ brands have built with FASTEC including GNU, Salomon, Bent Metal, Roxy, Head, Sims, Völkl, Nitro and many more.
Can my brand license FASTEC?
Yes. The mechanism, integration support, CAD, and reference tooling are available to OEM partners — start with the inquiry form on the Contact page.
Where is FASTEC made?
Engineered in Vienna, manufactured to spec in partner facilities in China, under direct engineering oversight from the Vienna team.
Are FASTEC bindings available at all price points?
Yes — FASTEC is the only dual entry binding system currently offered across such a wide range of price points.
How do I check that my binding is genuine?
Scan the QR tag on your binding — it opens our Verify page and checks automatically against the real authenticity register. Takes a second.
Where do I find the QR code?
On a hangtag with the QR code, attached to one of the two bindings. The binding itself carries no laser marking — just scan the tag.
What happens if the serial number isn’t found?
That can mean the pasted code has a typo, a binding from a brand that doesn’t carry QR tags yet, or a counterfeit. Use the contact link under the result if you bought it as genuine FASTEC and something feels off.
Which bindings carry the QR code?
QR authentication is live for SP Bindings, the system’s reference implementation. Other licensed brands will add QR tags to their lines over time — a binding without one yet isn’t automatically suspect.
Why does verification matter?
FASTEC counterfeits exist, mostly in grey-market channels, and typically use substandard materials. Verifying protects riders, retailers, and the licensed brands building with the system.
